CH ". . . and Duff" by Chris Hunter
There is a lot going on in this old world right now and the ancient stoics said we shouldn’t judge whether these events are good or bad. We should just accept everything as a part of life. All those stoics are dead, so I think it is safe for me to disagree slightly. I think if we see the humor in the little things around us— and inside of us— we can relax that stiff upper lip and make life enjoyable. That’s why I write my essays, they are what you might call chocolate chip cookies for the soul.…and Duff has lighthearted essays touching on just about anything under the sun, though not necessarily our sun. This happens when excesses, of time, imagination, and an urge to create are mixed with a slight attention deficiency. Sometimes my train of thought not only derails, it sails right on out of orbit and into unexpected galaxies. I’m speaking metaphorically, of course, and it is a mixed metaphor at that, but the intention is to let you know and Duff was created to be a fun read, perhaps a bedside book to be read a few pages at a time and not straight through. My aim is for it to contain passages worthy of a smile, enough of a smile to make you forget the frowns of the day.
